Good news for patients in the UK:
BBC Health News said:
The government has announced a plan to speed up the time it takes for new, life-changing medicines to reach patients.

From April 2018, around five drugs or devices will be selected by a panel of experts for fast-tracking each year.

This could mean they are available up to four years earlier than normal, ministers said.

Baroness Delyth Morgan, chief executive at Breast Cancer Now, said it was promising that repurposed drugs shown to be effective when used in a new way would be eligible for the fast-track pathway.

If rituximab comes up good, then... :)

I heard this mentioned on this morning's news and I think that part of the mechanism of fast-tracking was to run in parallel the assessments that are usually done in sequence.

Guess who will be at the bottom of the list every time. Sorry, we've done our 5 for this year...

I don't know though - if something genuinely useful comes along (rituximab or whatever), then the fact that there is nothing at all for ME at the moment might help us to be prioritised.

Plus, those with ME who are economically inactive must be costing the country a bit, so it could be very cost-effective to get us back on our feet ;)
