The great majority of doctors will not get to hear about this. However, quite a high proportion of GPs are likely to take note since it will impact their referral practice. And it has been brought to the notice of a number of people at the centre - the presidents of relevant Royal Colleges, Carol Black, and also people at NHS England. No doubt ministers will get to know. What I think they will all hear is that everyone is now agreed the patients need to be taken more seriously. There was a dialogue involving the NHS England rep raising the analogy the Liverpool Care Pathway which it was agreed was a similar case of a care pathway being set up that did not meet the real needs of patients.
