Wow, I just voted and Unrest was in the lead with 713 votes. Second place was I Am Not Your Negro with 54 votes (which is also a great film, by the way!).
I was so excited to vote that I only voted for Unrest. I just now noticed that you can vote for up to three movies, LOL!
but if you really want Unrest to get this maybe its a good idea not to give votes to another film to add to those by its supporters
True. I absolutely don't regret voting only for Unrest. I just thought it was funny that I was so excited that I missed those instructions completely!
I don't think I should vote in this poll. I have not seen any of the other Independent Lens films, so how can I give a fair judgement of which one I think is the best?
They just ask you for your favourite, I voted for Unrest since that's the only one I've seen and it's indeed my favourite. Otherwise you could only vote if you've seen them all to give a fair judgement.
There are some interesting sounding films in that list. Like Trish I'm unsure about voting. I've also never watched PBS
I didn't feel bad about voting. I have not seen all the films but I have seen several - I think 5? I do record Independent Lens on my DVR regularly. Then I look at the description of the program, maybe watch a few minutes, and decide whether I want to watch the whole thing. My impression is that "audience favorite" awards like this are often voted on by people who have not seen all the films. The films that have the most buzz, and are spread by word of mouth, often win these votes. It's the nature of this type of poll. But I would not want anyone to vote if they don't feel comfortable about it.
Congratulations, @JenB and all concerned in making this terrific film. Good to see it getting more recognition and another award.
