I think perhaps you're missing the point. The fact is that bullying is still common in our society and talking about it openly, rather than just saying, "hey, that's the way things have always been, move along," is the only way it is going to change.

Yes men can be the victims of bulling, but the key is that it is those without power who are most likely to be bullied - that means junior staff, women, people with certain personalities (eg. kinder people) are more likely to be taken advantage of, or bullied.

GET and CBT were found ineffective as treatments for ME by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research Quality. After pulling out studies that used Oxford case definition criteria, the studies that remained did not indicate GET and CBT were effective.

As well, at least some Cochrane reviewers subscribe to the psychosomatic model of ME; these are not independent reviewers.

If one is repeatedly "coached" by someone they view to be an authority figure, they will often go along with what the person with more power wants. PwME are already in a one down position with the medical profession;in this type of set up, most people would likely feel it's best to cooperate. And, we have been taught to trust professionals. In the main, we think they know best. With these things in mind it's easy to see PACE participants would be more likely to say they felt better.
