you always know research is of poor quality when cortisol is the central pillar of the hypothesis
I wonder how easy it is for women to get pituitary or hypothalamus or adrenal tumours found and treated? All of these could have an impact on cortisol levels. I suspect that is no easier to get treated for this than in any other branch of medicine for women.
But of course, any research looking into the effects of cortisol levels will, these days, assume that abnormal levels of cortisol are because the patient is stressed and therefore is a prime candidate for CBT and anti-depressants.
