How does modulating the recovery dynamics of biological systems through psychotherapy go for other biological diseases?
I wish people would stop with this stuff. It doesn’t help people with ME/CFS and it doesn’t help the reputation of psychotherapy. Rather it harms both.
That’s a really good question! I’d be interested in hearing what others think. Given discussion in the prolactin thread I wonder if there’s any PET tracers which could be used to measure relevant signalling molecules or just measuring blood levels (they may be masked and not give us cell...
I have loads more half made notes and papers to go through. I don’t want to paste things which may mislead. Bear with me and hopefully I’ll be able to get to more in time. And hopefully others will be able to help answer the questions which arise. I’d never heard of these things until this week...
If things pop they’ll be a hit and a panic in some markets but this isn’t as significant in the real economy I don’t think.
Stocks may crash but the debt is localised. GDP has been made to look good in some places by capital expenditure. But there is no need for government or central banks to...
Starting a separate thread on these cells which I mentioned in the buspirone/prolactin thread here. This may just be something I’m interested in for new shiny novelty reasons but I haven’t found any discussion on the forum and they seem really interesting and also potentially relevant to various...
More signs that the economics don’t add up. Google are further restricting personal/free access

AI everywhere all at once seems to be ending. The steady march towards ‘how the hell do we make any money here’ is accelerating.
Absolutely agree. If there is any way to do so we should use existing data to look at subgroups within the DecodeME cohort by severity. Sorry to go on about this but it’s come up a lot, we have the data, the barriers seem to be statistical, is we need a better method that works with smaller...
I wanted to give some time to read and digest this. I’ve been through a fair bit of the paper and this thread but probably need a few more listens to digest it more, there’s a lot there! But here’s my initisl notes, thoughts, questions. Not to anybody in particular but maybe they’ll help...
There’s also a big old review here which touches o some interesting ideas of how these cells manage the pitutary axes and may deal with memory or anticipation of demand.
(This may be one for another thread of ‘things hotblack has found interesting’ rather than clogging up discussion here, I...
These aee really interesting cells. And there’s loads of papers, I’m not sure where to atart but this may be of interest to peoplle. Did you come across this on your estrogen hunt @forestglip ?
(My highlighting of the abstract)
Folliculostellate Cells Determine the Susceptibility of...
That’s useful to know thanks @Jonathan Edwards
I don’t understand where the costs/barriers are in these sort of studies. But it seemed worth thinking about if we already the patients, the clinicians, the support staff all there…. Trying different tracers in different people could be efficient...
I’m just exploring alternatives and throwing ideas around, nothing at all clear. So a bit at the other end of the scale from the clear focus on getting someone interested and getting a particular thing looked at.
There seems to be a large number of dopaminergic PET radiotracers for...
That’s brilliant @Benjamin Missbach the Rotary Club are exactly the sort of mainstream institution we need to accept ME/CFS and having them involved in fundraising certainly helps give a respectability and reach beyond what we currently see that can bring in more funds.
I really liked seeing...
Thanks @jnmaciuch I think I’m still off in the blissful land of the theoretical unconstrained by the pesky details of the practical :) useful reminder.
Ah. I suppose I was thinking the reverse. What can we measure which may be directly or indirectly related here? What PET tracers or whatever are available? We wouldn’t be able to measure everything in everyone but we could test a broader range of things overall to perhaps get more information...
Given PRLR receptors are cytokine family and the potential link to chemicals of brain injury (with it without brain injury) would it make sense to look at whatever we can in a brain imaging study in conjunction with this drug challenge? Could we look at different things in different participants...
Some really interesting looking presentations there! Looking forward to the one on CA10 by @James Cox particular of course :)
@Andy I assume this will be on YouTube sometime after the event like previous webinars for those not able to attend or follow live?
Nice! Looks like quite an event, some good pictures of people enjoying themselves and being well fed in a very fancy room while being gently persuaded to part with their cash for a good cause! Something worth making a song and dance about (I don’t think there was dancing though, only singing by...
