Nature: A reboot for chronic fatigue syndrome research

I'm not aware that this has been established. I've had several courses of IVIG with no impact whatsoever on my ME.

    I've gone nocturnal again :(

Too bad you're having such difficulty, @Arnie Pye . There's nothing worse, seems to me, than sleep troubles. They seem to prompt such frustration and misery. I hope you can come to a place of comfort soon.:hug:

Public "Integrative Personal Omics Profiles during Periods of Weight Gain and Loss", 2018, Synder et al

It's true that nobody recommends going to bed and moving as little as possible, but there's lots of evidence that the source of calories matters a whole lot more than number of calories. So deep calorie restriction isn't necessary for weight loss, provided carbohydrates are restricted to 50-100...

Public "Integrative Personal Omics Profiles during Periods of Weight Gain and Loss", 2018, Synder et al

I don't have expertise in this area, but my understanding is that current thinking is that exercise, while important for cardiovascular health, has little significance in weight management. Even healthy people, living a normal life, can't do the amount of exercise necessary to effect weight...

Stanford ME/CFS Initiative: PEM Avoidance Toolkit

It appears they tout their patient involvement in the development of this instrument. Makes me wonder how they did on the criteria set out by Jennifer Johanneson in the article posted by @TrixieStix on Sunday. Sorry. Don't have the brainpower to figure out how to post a link. :(

Is the NIH/CDC going to use the right PEM definition for all their future research? Do patients need to act? Deadline 31 Jan

Thank you, @Leonard Jason , for including your team's latest efforts to define PEM. I have four comments: 1. I'm not sure if, on a bad day, I could understand and answer such a lengthy questionnaire, so the circumstances under which the questionnaire would be used are key; 2. This iteration...

Disability News Service: "Civil servant sparks fresh concerns over ideological basis of jobs strategy" [BPS discussed]

Maybe I misunderstood the article. I thought that the civil servant was openly pointing out that the bps theories were running along with the social theories sub rosa, thus basically outing and criticizing the plans on this basis.

    Insomnia.

Ahhh, @Squeezy! I'm frustrated on your behalf. A few years ago, I was in a pattern of playing Freecell until about 3 or 4 in the morning, then would sleep until about 11 or 12 noon the next day. I got sent to a health psychologist who essentially told me that, if I was managing to go to sleep...

    Insomnia.

If it's any consolation, my plan is to shower and wash hair once a week max. I often don't manage that! Sleep and rest are number one in my book. Nothing worse than insomnia, unless it's finding a porcupine in your bed! Don't sweat the cleanliness--it's overrated.:hug: I trust...

Two of my all-time favorites: Blow-up and The Conversation. I also liked Memento.

@Daisy could you tell us the name of this group, please?

    And-- no denying--we're a cheeky bunch.

    Insomnia.

Oh no, no way is this just a whinge! Being wired but tired is one of the worst things ever! I found a thread on the other place dealing with "wired but tired" and decided to try something suggested by Valentijn: N-Acetyl-Cysteine. I used to have insomnia about every other day, and since I...

Open letter to TEDxBristol regarding Esther Crawley's presentation on 2 November 2017

@Invisible Woman Too complicated for me! Here it's just M.D. Osteopaths have a different designation and aren't necessarily considered medical doctors.

Thanks, @Trish and @Invisible Woman! So for my education, which of her listed degrees is the medical degree?
