The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

I thought there had been some contact tracing that did show contagion stemmed from high-touch surface areas in certain situations - elevator buttons in a shared building? some sort of payment screens? Maybe not 100% proven source, but highly likely? Faulty memory, obviously, but I have a vague...

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I don't know, but I've read recommendations that cloth masks should be washed on several different websites. Here's a quote from a recent article on the NPR (National Public Radio) website that recommends washing daily (which I take to mean every day that the mask is used): Link =...

The biology of coronavirus COVID-19 - including research and treatments

Is this the right thread to talk about trends, whether up or down, in the number of cases? If not, please move this. Thanks! Some websites that report confirmed coronavirus cases also show a 7 day rolling average. Some show a 14 day rolling average. I know the general reason for using a longer...

Is your "startle reflex” super sensitive?

It was not sensitive before I got ME, but my startle response is a lot more sensitive than normal now. However, it does vary a little. When I'm feeling worse due to PEM, getting startled happens more easily. Also, the recovery (heart rate going back to normal, being able to think clearly) takes...

Advice on mask-wearing to protect against Covid-19

So, does anyone have tips for how to choose from the many different brands of disposable masks online? Thanks! Edit: Looking to buy some disposable "medical grade" masks, just in case we ever need them, and I'm not even sure what "medical grade" means.

Question: Coronavirus & home sewn masks?

I read on one mask making site that ordinary twist ties would work in a pinch. I have no idea how you'd insert them / attach them. PS. I don't have the manual dexterity or brain power to make masks myself! This was on some site where you'd buy a mask and then insert a twist tie - but I've lost...
