NICE Guideline review: Call for evidence on myalgic encephalomyelitis (or encephalopathy)/chronic fatigue syndrome, deadline 16th Oct 2019

I can’t keep up with the forum lately, including this thread, due to cognitive issues and life, so maybe I’m concerned for no reason but... This thread is now quite long and many people have posted research here that they think NICE should consider. I’m worried that people are doing that rather...

Dialogues for a neglected illness - videos on experiences of people with ME (funded by Wellcome Foundation)

Maybe busy GPS could be persuaded to watch these. Very good. Thank you all concerned.

NIH: New Grants Explore Benefits of Music on Health

This is an irresponsible use of public funds when there are people in desperate need of research into treatments and cures ( and prevention) for underfunded conditions; research that will make a real difference to lives. The NIH should know this, there is no excuse. Edit grammar

Dogs Are Dying Suddenly in Norway

I’m pretty sure I saw an item on this in the Guardian too.

A Messiah in the Norwegian health system? Lightning Process and the Norwegian medical establishment - Blogpost by Nina E. Steinkopf (2019)

But Cochrane doesn’t have power to regulate or teeth to sanction does it? To me it seems more like a highly influential cross between a library and a marketing tool.

A Messiah in the Norwegian health system? Lightning Process and the Norwegian medical establishment - Blogpost by Nina E. Steinkopf (2019)

I have been wondering in my more idealistic moments why there isn’t one, but I don’t know about this sort of thing. It seems a good idea to me. I’d be interested to know if there are any good reasons why this isn’t a good idea in principle.

The science of craniocervical instability and other spinal issues and their possible connection with ME/CFS - discussion thread

This has been niggling at me - I thought that hormonal changes in pregnancy (and perhaps the menopause?) could affect ligaments. Maybe that’s an old wives tale, but it was told to me by midwives in an antenatal class and by a GP back in the early nineties. I’m not able to research this myself -...

    Ketogenic diet

Coincidentally my sisters and I have just been having a WhatsApp conversation about fasting. I do not have the the stomach ( ha! ) to talk about it more but this would make a good separate thread @Arnie Pye

ME/CFS success story: Lightning Process on Youtube 2019

PP wouldn’t ‘do’ S4ME; too much critique. Its more lucrative to stick to biased marketing.

ME/CFS success story: Lightning Process on Youtube 2019

I wonder how Phil Parker frames congenital illness and disability. At what point before birth does the individual decide to ‘do’ their condition or does the mother decide on their baby’s behalf if it’s before they develop a nervous system? Sarcasm; though if Phil Parker is on the forum I’d like...

Quantifying the Association Between Psychotherapy Content and Clinical Outcomes Using Deep Learning (2019) Ewbank et al.

What clinical outcomes would those be? They don’t know what the true picture of clinical outcomes is because they can’t be bothered using objective measures to find out, or follow up patients longer term.

Is there already a separate thread about this? It’s worth drawing attention to.

The Guardian's Science Weekly podcast - 2 November 2018 - What role should the public play in science?

It’s displayed on the Guardian opinion page like a badge of honour. Maybe facts are sometimes too sacred to check.

UK: Capita seeks to reverse 'reputational damage' after death of (agoraphobia & fibro) claimant (from brain haemorrhage)

Since the govt first decided to outsource in this way (it’s been both Labour Party and Conservative party policy) large companies with many fingers in many pies have risen up. There is a lot of money to be made from government contracts on terms that can be unduly favourable to the company...
