How does emotional stress lead to inflammation?

It seems widely accepted that “stress” leads to inflammation. “Stress” in this context is always used to denote emotional stress. How does emotional stress lead to inflammation? Is there evidence of how this pathway works? Thanks in advance.

    Physiotherapist for urinary frequency?

Hi @Lisa108, I am in Australia and we have physiotherapists, or “physios” as we call them. But usually they are for muscular and sports injuries, as far as I know. I have never heard of one for urinary frequency.

    Physiotherapist for urinary frequency?

Thank you for the suggestions, the GP just suggested a physiotherapist when two urine tests came back clear, she didn’t run any other tests. We see the respiratory specialist tomorrow and I will raise with him. I guess that is why I asked really, so that I might have some idea of other things...

Is the recommendation to see a physiotherapist for urinary frequency in a child with ME helpful, if there is no infection/inflammatory markers?

Is this allergy or something else?

You sound like my daughter, she also reacted adversely to antihistamines, including ones which were meant to be safe. I think it was a problem with her histamine receptors. I don’t know whether it is possible to measure histamine receptor antibodies but I suspect this was something that could...

Is this allergy or something else?

Yes, I would follow up with an allergist to rule out environmental allergies. Skin prick tests can determine IgE allergies to specific trees like acacia, sycamore, privet, pine, olive, cedar, birch and cypress. It doesn’t sound like you have an IgE allergy from your symptoms, but at least with...

Michael Sharpe skewered by @JohntheJack on Twitter

And experts will listen to ME sufferers when they say CBT works, but not when they say it doesn’t.

Then the CBT can’t possibly be helping. If conditioning is the cause of a relapse, then how does CBT simply get “forgotten”. It makes no sense.

IgE - when does it rise?

I couldn’t find this anywhere on google (suspect my search terms were not correct terminology) so am hoping someone here will know. When does serum IgE rise after exposure to a confirmed allergen, how long does it “last” and what is the rate of it decreasing? Is it a straight line to decrease...

Chronic pain often has no physical cause. Psychotherapy can reduce the suffering.

Absolutely, hallelujah. But if the pain is neuropathic, it can improve with TCAs (but not SSRIs) so a psychologist, or an insurance doctor, will say this proves the pain is psychogenic.

How does this work? A free lecture by SW hosted by a charity dedicated to supporting the education of children with disabilities? It sounds like a soirée not an educational experience (notwithstanding the obvious).
