    Restless legs syndrome

I get this for a few weeks in the summer, usually when it's very warm at night. It stops me sleeping. I'll try a spoonful of marmalade next time, if I remember.

Patient Perspectives on Self-Management Technologies for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (2019) Tabby Davies, Simon Jones, Ryan Kelly

My heart rate monitor has never left me feeling frustrated and ashamed. In fact it never occurred to me to have any feelings about it whatsoever. It's a tool, a machine, a thing. As long as it serves a purpose I use it, and if it stops being useful I'll discard it, leaving it feeling rejected...

Characterization of Post–exertional Malaise in Patients With Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (2020) Stussman, Nath et al.

Very relieved to hear that a study involving Brian Walitt and small sample size who are "queried" on their retrospective memories ends up producing pretty much what I'd expect it would. Saves me having to re-evaluate my heuristics.

BPS attempts at psychologizing Long Covid

I was unaware of this recent transformation. PTSD is a horrible thing, but if it's now being widened, one consequence is that those suffering from old-style PTSD will be taken less seriously and their suffering will be more easily dismissed.

NICE ME/CFS draft guideline - publication dates and delays 2020

She seems to be suffering from some kind of anxiety. I'm not one to speculate wildly, but if I were, I might be encouraged that she seems worried that the psychological input so far has not been enough to reach whatever result she thinks should be reached.

How do you cope with spreading yourself thin? :-(

Yep. I was always very performance and acheivement oriented, ambitious, striving, hard working etc etc, and also tried to make a difference doing voluntary work. One of the big changes with having ME was accepting that sometimes stuff just doesn't get done. And then accepting that nearly all the...

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for chronic fatigue and CFS: outcomes from a specialist clinic in the UK (2020) Adamson, Wessely, Chalder

They didn't target it very well if between a third and a half of participants avoided filling in follow-up questionnaires.

I think you can get round things by saying "This disclaimer is for arse-covering purposes only".

The use of the labels ME, CFS, ME/CFS

@Diane O'Leary I have read your arguments and I'm afraid I remain unconvinced. I don't have the energy to respond to every small point, just a few: There is already a distinct name for the BPS approach - completely abusive bollocks. It should not be dignified with any other name, no matter how...

CBT for CFS Therapist Manual PAEDIATRIC CFS TEAM, ROYAL UNITED HOSPITAL, BATH, UK Loades, M.E. & Starbuck, J. | 2020

I was too busy being a smartypants to notice the joke. There's probably a life lesson in there somewhere.

The use of the labels ME, CFS, ME/CFS

My diagnosis from the Charite in Berlin is: Diagnoses: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (G93.3) That's the best you'll get in Germany. A diagnosis of ME is simply not an option. It's not something the health service offers.

BPS attempts at psychologizing Long Covid

Why do these idiots always get in there first? It's so annoying. "Bootcamp". What are they going to do, cure people by shouting at them? Why not just call it "Conversion Therapy"? It's just as offensive, but at least they'd be calling it what it is.
