Activity baseline vs activity ceiling, why concepts and language matter

There is nothing in my pre-ME experience that provides a good analogy to ME. The concepts and words to accurately describe it in a way that those who not experienced it can meaningfully grasp just don't exist yet. Closest I have seen is that ME is like having a bad flu (without the cold part)...

A perspective on causation of the chronic fatigue syndrome by considering its nosology, 2019, White

Same as when Wessely (?) interprets the high rate of depression as evidence that it is a psych disorder, not that very physically sick patients are being subject to serious neglect & abuse by leading psychs, the medical profession, and broader society. Nah, couldn't possibly be that, sayeth Sir...

A perspective on causation of the chronic fatigue syndrome by considering its nosology, 2019, White

More than a little ironic that the profession charged with understanding the psycho-social aspect of health and informing the rest of us about it and how to manage it, are the very ones who either fail to understand it or actively use that understanding to obfuscate and delay proper...

Protocol: Persistent physical symptoms reduction intervention: a system change and evaluation (PRINCE), 2015 onwards, Chalder, Moss-Morris, et al

Sorry to hear your story, Luna. It is important that it is told. That stuff could well be the core of any legal case against them. There is no way they can say there is definitely no possibility of physical harm from GET. That is reckless and fraudulent. This to the power of infinity. They...

Activity baseline vs activity ceiling, why concepts and language matter

That is my view. Your own body is ultimately the best teacher, and you will not always have technological aids to assist you in judging the threshold. Best to learn how to do it via bodily signals and sensations. You know, the complete opposite of what the CBT/GET crowd 'advise'. Not even sure...

Activity baseline vs activity ceiling, why concepts and language matter

I have never been symptom-free since the day I got sick. Just doesn't happen. There is no baseline.

Coz the most humble people always make sure everybody knows they are.
