Article: 'Is standing up for expertise a fool’s errand?' - Simon Wessely still being portrayed as the 'victim'

That's interesting because they are. If you can help someone stop feeling pain or fatigue, then that's all that matters. Addressing any underlying issue, if there is one, doesn't matter, because you are setting out only to help with how someone feels about it. In a way you are setting out to...

Article: 'Is standing up for expertise a fool’s errand?' - Simon Wessely still being portrayed as the 'victim'

ME is CFS is fatigue. He helps people with their fatigue (and their unhelpful belief they have a pathological illness). It's why they use subjective outcomes and insist they are legitimate: because fatigue is essentially subjective and since fatigue is the primary symptom, if they can change...

Article: 'Is standing up for expertise a fool’s errand?' - Simon Wessely still being portrayed as the 'victim'

I do think there has been a shift in his claims and perhaps his views over time. I think some of his 'I may have been a bit harsh' stuff is part of this shift. He's no longer prepared to assert all the stuff he was asserting in the 80s and 90s, so now he's saying he was using stronger words than...

Article: 'Is standing up for expertise a fool’s errand?' - Simon Wessely still being portrayed as the 'victim'

I thought two things he said were interesting: First, he is now qualifying the 'safer in Iraq' comment by saying he felt 'emotionally safer'. I haven't seen that before. Second, he is not claiming to treat patients but help them 'manage their symptoms'. It comes to the same thing, of course...

FOI request re PACE Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

That would be very interesting, though of course would need researchers with sufficient time to devote to it.

FOI request re PACE Cost-Effectiveness Analysis

I have received a reply from the MRC. They tell me to address all my questions to the CSDR. I went to the site and poked around a bit and now have a better understanding of what has happened. The MRC do not hold the data. This organization does. It's been set up by a group of organizations that...

Genome-wide analysis identifies molecular systems and 149 genetic loci associated with income, 2019, Hill et al

It's not wrong to ask the question, just as it's not wrong to ask if CBT and GET treat ME, but the attempt to answer it has to be done properly.

Yes, it's likely to be about then, especially as I have asked for some information that they may refuse to release and that could take some time to gather.

The data have now gone up on the site. https://www.clinicalstudydatarequest.com/Posting.aspx?ID=20098 I'm not sure what 'analysis ready dataset' means. 'Raw data' are not available.
