ME/SEID - a more accurate illness name than ME/CFS? (words only, nothing to do with diagnostic criteria)

I feel I should mention that Fibromyalgia has lost its discrete code for ICD-11. ME/SEID - a more accurate illness name than ME/CFS? (words only, nothing to do with diagnostic criteria)

Yes, some agencies do use two acronyms hyphenated together on their website texts, for example. In the case of NICE, using "CFS/ME" or "ME/CFS" isn't particularly problematic from a classification perspective, since NHS England uses the WHO's international edition of ICD-10 and CFS and BME...

ME/SEID - a more accurate illness name than ME/CFS? (words only, nothing to do with diagnostic criteria)

For what it's worth: From a classification and terminology perspective: Neither the WHO, Geneva, nor the U.S. ICD-10-CM (developed, managed and updated by NCHS-CDC), nor the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), nor the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), nor...

Updates on status of ICD-11 and changes to other classification and terminology systems

I continue to be concerned by the number of errors I find on MEpedia pages regarding terminology and classification. Why are authors of these pages not fact checking before they add content? Why are they attempting to author content if they are not equipped to do so ? What is the point of...

If the external ICD-11 Neurology work group and its internal managing editor had had its way, CFS would have replaced PVFS as the Concept Title (lead) term for ICD-11. Indeed. But my objection was to the suggestion that having knowledge of, or interest in the history and politics of ME equated to "obsession".
