Pleased to hear it was of some use. Just to be clear, there's no real evidence of the HPV vaccine leading to even just a slightly earlier occurrence of CFS in predisposed individuals... but it seems that something like that would be harder to pick up in a study like this.
Hi Hedgehog. This isn't an area I know a lot about, but I thought I'd share my views anyway.
No single study can be definitive, but the discussions I've read about this makes it sound as if this was a decently done study (I've skimmed it and it did seem to do a good job on indicating HPV...
I think that there's something to that, but that it's also true that we all tend to be thoughtless about the injustices faced by others, and that plays a role in generating further injustice.
re understanding ill-health: when I come down with a cold, or some other short term illness, I find...
There have been some really annoying recent tweets from that Max Davie guy. The sort of ill-informed pseudo-sophistication I'm not used to seeing post-Tuller. Yuck.
Sonya does the CMRC ones which never seem to address anything much.
Max Davie does seem to have said some really ill-informed things in the past, and from the minutes, it sounded as if he wasn't saying much.
Hmmm... she's not on this list, and I'm sure I remember something about her leaving (although my memory can let me down):

From what we've seen from the MRC with regards to PACE, it's hard to know whether this money is likely to be a good or bad thing.
I didn't know that the NOD had stopped. The results seemed pretty poor - maybe it was seen as embarrassing? When Simon Collin left MEGA it was said that he was also leaving Bristol.

Director Jennifer Brea + Producer Lindsey Dryden explain the journey Jennifer's illness took her on to create her documentary Unrest...
There does seem to be a growing expectation that researchers should do 'public engagement' type stuff. That must not be fun if your work is so poor that a large number of people are able to pick it apart in front of you. Please cease and desist the harassing questioning of research?!
I bet that there were loads of problems with Wessely making false claims over the years that just were not recorded. Now everyone is walking around with a recording studio in their pockets it's much easier for someone like Crawley to get herself into trouble.
Don't feel you have any responsibility to reply at all! I'm sure that I often let threads of a discussion drop just because I forget about them. Sorry to hear about your PIP burden, and very best of wishes with it all.
When was the last time you actually saw something like that take place? It seems depressingly rare to me.
Personally, I think that written debate is probably best for matters like this, but also think that Wessely/White/etc would now struggle to do a good job defending their work. I think that...
