I vaguely remember Ellen Goudsmit saying what patient groups were advising was being or had been mischaracterised. She was the editor of the ME Action magazine/newsletter in late 80s or early 90s, possibly under a pseudonym.
Though conversely, some people in Ireland might say that some doctors are in a rush to give a diagnosis of CFS to those who believe they (parents, etc.) have been damaged by the (HPV) vaccine.
There are not easy targets with this illness yet as the pathophysiology is not understood.
So the drug companies are reluctant to invest at this time.
I think whatever the true prevalence is, the illness is significant enough that there is a big drug market there.
We just need to seek to...
I see one of the studies they used was Reeves et al 2007. This used the so-called empiric criteria for CFS (Reeves et al, 2005), which are really rubbish. It found a prevalence of 2.54%.

I've heard of postinfectious (fatigue) syndromes after a lot of infectious conditions, but I don't recall hearing of Legionnaires' disease.
Unfortunately this article does not give much information on symptoms and impairments now, but perhaps more information will come out in the coming days...
When I got some analysis of my cortisol/cortisone levels done, it involved a collection of urine for 24 hours.
A bit easier for men than women.
Thankfully I was housebound, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience.
One time my mother had to go in for an extra container due to the volume I had excreted.
