Feedback from Stakeholder Engagement Workshop for the NICE guidelines on ME, Jan 2018

I had the same problem. It seems to be a google group? In which case maybe one needs to be a member to access files there? No idea, just a suggestion.

BBC Rip off Britain on Lyme Disease

I meant to put this up sooner, but got distracted. The other day (Wednesday?) the programme Rip off Britain had a section on Lyme Disease. It starts just after 13 minutes in. I thought it was quite good, though must admit I didn't see it all in detail as was distracted by having to...

University College London launches open access megajournal to help solve the world’s biggest challenges

I'm sorry I'm late to this thread - struggling somewhat recently. The tape recorder industry is making something of a comeback these days due to DWP insisting that if you want to record your assessment you must use a tape recorder, or rather either a dual tape recorder or two tape recorders...

Breathlessness and air hunger in ME/CFS

Nothing helpful to say about treatment or anything like that, but wanted to send my sympathy and some hugs.

Is the NIH/CDC going to use the right PEM definition for all their future research? Do patients need to act? Deadline 31 Jan

Yes! I used to be like this. Now I'm less able and have problems doing anything at all let alone too much. Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread, it's been very interesting to read. Not up to commenting now (other than briefly above) after reading it all. Need to think it over, though...

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

Just for clarity, I do *not* think I should be able to do everything with my phone. Being able to do it on my phone is my first experience of measuring HR (other than timing pulse at wrist using a clock with a second hand) and blood O2 (other than when I nearly passed out at dentist and he used...

    Who is Simon Wessely?

Yes, I remember watching that debate and yelling and screaming at the TV. Really don't understand how I managed to restrain myself from chucking it out the window! ;)

Buzzfeed News - A Controversial Therapy For ME Has Led To Claims Of Death Threats, Harassment, And Pseudoscience

    PIP Tribunal

I can vouch that F4J are fantastic. @Wonko, go to their FaceBook page and ask them there about this. You don't need to go into so much detail as you have here, just ask about the legality of being told to go to f2f hearing when you asked for a paper one. Though from what Luther says above it may...

Using Heart rate monitoring to help with pacing.

I'd like to find that person too. I keep reading stuff and changing my mind as to which item I might consider buying. I can do HR and oxygen thingy (blood O2 level?) using phone, but not easy and not ongoing - have to decide to do it. Hope you find some help @Wonko. Best of luck to...

Centre for Welfare Reform: "Deleted BBC News Item on Unum"

Yes! And a Dislike for when someone's having a hard time for whatever reason - it always feels wrong to hit "Like" for someone getting sicker or having horrid doctor or not getting Benefits etc.

Why Scientists need to do more about research fraud

Interesting article in The Guardian today. https://www.theguardian.com/science/occams-corner/2018/jan/04/science-fraud-research-misconduct Reading the comments somebody asked for examples of bad science... Anyone up to writing a bit on PACE? I'm too brain dead today and have stomach ache so...

    Low temperature

@Wonko, bit off topic for this thread, but you mentioned benefits above. Concerning WCA etc, consider contacting Fightback4Justice - they're on Facebook, you can get contact details there. One of their advocates came to my Tribunal (reasonable charge, so reasonable I paid more than asked for...

Let's talk wheelchairs and mobility scooters

@Viola thank you for such a great in depth review of your scooter. Really useful. :) It sounds really great, but suspect not for me as we live on a hill that's somewhat steep... Plus on holiday I'd be wanting to use it to get to beach, which is down a three arrow hill (steepest)...

Article, "Dear worried well, the internet is not your friend"

Just watching BBC Breakfast where they are telling us to look up symptoms on the internet before making an appointment with your GP! They do point out that just googling can take you to some strange sites, so use proper ones like NHS.

Trial By Error: Bristol’s Complaint to Berkeley [Short Tuller blog 23rd December 2017]

He is the same person, he's a Doctor of Astronomy, though he doesn't make that clear in his posts! ISTR he posted on Co-Cure before he got his doctorate.

Does anyone else get IBS as part of a crash?

Just a warning not to ignore constipation as just part of IBS associated with ME. September 2016 we went to stay with our daughter in London (We were going to see Tim Peake at New Scientist exhibition) and I got very constipated, with accompanying lower left abdominal pain. I was also feeling...

    Proposed Letter to NICE

Seeing as this is an open thread as against For Members Only I sent the link to my husband. His comment was "It's a damn fine letter" and he'd like his signature to be added too. John Wallace.
