Investigating the effectiveness ... of FITNET-NHS compared to Activity Management to treat paediatric CFS/ME, 2018, Crawley et al. Protocol

It took me quite a while to find the location where all versions of the protocol are collected: https://www.journalslibrary.nihr.ac.uk/programmes/hta/14192109#/ Edit: A summary of all changes to the protocol can be found here, pp. 36-42 https://njl-admin.nihr.ac.uk/document/download/2029706...

Investigating the effectiveness ... of FITNET-NHS compared to Activity Management to treat paediatric CFS/ME, 2018, Crawley et al. Protocol

I saw this only now. In addition to all already pointed to in the previous comments I found the part about "possible benefits and risks of participating" very strange. What are possible benefits and risks of participating? (And if FITNET-NHS is not effective?) Also the supposed risks seem...

RoB 2: a revised tool for assessing risk of bias in randomised trials (2019) Sterne et al.

RoB 2: a revised tool for assessing risk of bias in randomised trials (2019) Sterne et al.

Anyone could help me understand this example? Are there machines for data collection that cannot be repaired or new ones would be too expensive, so that a broken machine would require utterly different methods of data collection or the collection of other data?

RoB 2: a revised tool for assessing risk of bias in randomised trials (2019) Sterne et al.

The affected egos surely could help each other with a bit CBT? On a more serious note, if they just wanted to be good and helpful clinicians, therapists or researchers, they wouldn't have to be afraid of having nothing to apply their professional education to. There is a lot of urgent stuff to...

Is ME a metabolic problem or a signalling problem?

(Only able to skim this and related threads and now just slightly amended an older draft which might fit into this thread -- if not, please feel free to move.) Again, I think in order to assess symptoms and build hypotheses on underlying processes, it's important to distinguish between...

US NIH: Responses to NANDS Request for Information: How to advance ME/CFS Research

In my case what I perceived as exercise-induced muscle stiffness and weakness was assessed as motor fatigue only after I had provided a video documenting my temporary strange gait. My neurologist as well as diverse physiotherapists even think my occasional flares of muscle spasms in other parts...

US NIH: Responses to NANDS Request for Information: How to advance ME/CFS Research

I think both fatiguability and PEM could be measured. IMO it's important to distinguish between the two. Also it could be helpful to distinguish between studying movement patterns as patterns of 'fatigued'/ specifically altered/ impaired movements on the one hand and behavioral patterns (how...

New poor Guardian article "ME and the perils of internet activism" 28th July 2019

Another important and wonderful article correcting some media campaigners' spin -- thank you, @dave30th Are you aware that you are not only "a man called David Tuller" but you also write for a "blog called Virology"? It's specified as a "well-read blog" at least. (Anyway, I like how you write...
