Is it true that we will get sent some material to read first? If so when? I'd like to have reasonable time to digest the material.
Anyone know? @Andy @Jonathan Edwards
I was wondering if anyone knows how a NICE stakeholder meeting works?
I am guessing that our “CFS/ME” one will be well attended, so I’m wondering what opportunity there might be for those present to express concerns? I have been told that patient concerns are generally taken very seriously...
Can I ask how the 1st and 3rd points differ here. I'm reading it again and again... but I must be missing something, because these two points seem to be the same to me??
Edit to say - letter looks good. I particularly like that previous committee should be excluded.
Here's something I've started to wonder about.
If psychiatric problems are excluded from income protection insurance, and other policy payouts (or the payouts are time limited),
then, surely it is in the interests of those same insurance companies to ensure as many people as possible can have...

"The Amazing Significo: why researchers need to understand poker"

Which would seem to contain some useful lessons for ME psycho-social researchers.
Ah... @Jonathan Edwards I stand corrected.
The irony of the "weak" version of a homeopathic remedy in fact being able to contain a drug at any significant concentration had escaped me entirely!
"Homeopathic DRUGS"?????
Surely the products cannot be described as drugs if no molecule of the original substance exists?
Homeopathic water, homeopathic sugar, or homeopathic products, might be valid names.... but drugs? What were they thinking?
This would seem to legitimise...
The little lights work almost anywhere on the body. I have worn mine inside a sock, or my bra. I just took the strap off. Sure I couldn't read the monitor for those days (in smart clothes so didn't want the wrist watch bit), but if I was really curious I could check on my phone app. Having...
@Clark Ellis
Each day the Fitbit app tells me what my resting HR is... as the day progresses the number sometimes changes a little.
I have only been using the Charge since July. Often my resting HR creeps up over a few days - that can be during a period when I'm feeling more "well", and it...
A detailed and useful post @Clark Ellis ... Though I have to say I've no complaints about the Fitbit HR Charge2 (I think that is the name of the one I have) or the app that goes with it. I like the "resting HR" feature in particular.
Excellent letter @Barry - but I would argue that it is "science based". Science is about getting to the truth of the matter. It should never be about word-play and misrepresentation of detail. Correcting a misinterpretation is as much about good science as picking apart statistical errors...
Today I think is the deadline for the submission of applications for the meeting. I suggest you ring them and ask for the email about the meeting to be forwarded to you. The application form is not too arduous.
@Jenny TipsforME Have MEAction had an invitation to the stakeholders meeting? That would surely give a clue as to whether you are properly on their list? There did seem to be a re-affirmation process a couple of months ago, as we confirmed we wanted to remain on the list (or something like that).
That list looks out dated.
Hope 4 ME & Fibro NI is not on it. We are definitely stakeholders as we have been invited to send a rep to the stakeholder meeting in January, and we also submitted a response in July.
As for the unusual list, we also registered for some other guidelines... because...
