BBC Radio Northampton phone-in with Charles Shepherd

@Russell Fleming @Action for M.E. Indicates how much has to be achieved in educating GPs and medics as written by a GP. Perhaps a letter to the Northern Echo from an ME charity ( or both) to set the record straight is warranted?

Has anyone had homocysteine levels tested & subsequently treated and found any benefit?

Got tested on NHS as history of heart issues in family and MTHFR , MTRR genes not good. Not a lot of knowledge re homocysteine, but like most things low and high are not ideal Daughter ' s level of 6 made sense as glutathione is low so this figures. Reference scale is weird 0-20. 0 - 4 would...

(Not a recommendation) (UK) "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Conference: Costs, challenges and practice"

There is nothing that is offered that you could not find on YouTube. But it is in one place, packaged and delivered with a corporate wrap. If you didn' t have a clue about how stress causes physiological responses, or the importance of diet, this would be useful ( whether it would be cost...

Who was it that said being in support groups leads to poor outcome?

If data can be cherrypicked, then why would quotes not be fair game too? Countries have gone to war over selective editing - there is always a purpose behind it.

Dr Myhill’s complaint to GMC about PACE authors.

Coupled with the recent BabaGawa(?) case, and the Gosport doctor not being more severely pulled up ( her brother sat on GMC panel) it does make you wonder what exactly GMC ' s role is

UK: Locations that offer CPET/VO2max testing

Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen will do VO2 / returning lactate testing - await details of cost. Palpitations

My aunt experienced these. So bad that she had an ambulance ride twice and monitoring - NHS could not find a reason for " normal" function when she had experienced these. As there is a history of heart problems in our family, she had a private consult, was given an app to download which...

Updates on status of ICD-11 and changes to other classification and terminology systems

Really good news. Many thanks @Dx Revision Watch , and Mary Dimmock. This is critically important in the context of the all expanding universe that is MUS and IAPT. Your persistence, clarity and patience are much appreciated- it takes a specific mindset to deal with these myriad of...

Blog: Spoonseeker: Probing the Holes in MUS

Indeed. Sadly learnt of third local teenager in my daughter's year ( over past 3 years timescale) diagnosed with a form of lymphoma - 2 out of 3 not picked up by GPs.

The putative glymphatic signature of chronic fatigue syndrome: A new view on the disease pathogenesis and therapy, 2018, Wostyn et al

I wouldn' t dismiss toxic build up. Low glutathione is found in many, compromising detox processes. Should you have a genetic issue ( such as propensity for hemachromatosis, folate/ b12 processing compromising methylation ) then this may become more acute. Too complex for my non science brain...

    Symptom diary

My daughter uses daylio app - less complex than flaredown and easier for her to manage. She sets her own symptoms and also achievements ( like having a shower) which can make ie easier to track back for PEM causes . It is basically a mood app that you can customize with a broad sprinkling of...

    GETSET letters in The Lancet

I have not read the paper, and do not know if it is at all relevant, but is there a NNT figure ( as in the quoted 7 for PACE) ?
