Research in progress: A Unified Mechanism for Functional Neurological Symptoms, 2015 to 2018, Edwards et al

What on earth are we going to be compared to next? I don't mind Naviaux comparing me to a nematode worm but I won't have Mark Edwards and his mates getting cheeky.

Public The big fat lie: Britons eat 50% more than they say

Will that be a Wessely-Whopper or a Whitey-Double-Whopper? Pork pie with that?

Public The big fat lie: Britons eat 50% more than they say

I love the way the unit of measurement is a Big Mac. Perhaps we should adopt our own unit of measurement, for example "Results in this study were inflated by a Wessely". Which leads to the question - which is bigger, a Wessely or a Crawley? Perhaps we need a sliding scale.

Netherlands - Women in science are missing out on dozens of millions of euros

    1. The subject of this thread and the OP is an article about gender inequality in university professorships / the under-representation of women in science. This is an acceptable subject to raise in the "Health News and Research unrelated to ME/CFS" forum. 2. From post 2 onwards the discussion...

The economic burden of CFS/ME: an initial summary of the existing evidence and recommendations for further research (Brenna & Gitto, 2017)

I'd like to see the evidence for this. We are often accused of wasting doctors' time, when the reality may well be that many of us are in hiding from the health service and engage as little as possible. When I read the thread title I actually thought it might be a sympathetic paper on the...

    Legs weakness

A reminder of rule 5, purely for information purposes (ie I'm not saying that anyone's breached it or needs warning about it, just that it's a bit of information that fits into the current exchange):

BBC News: "'Gigi Hadid has Hashimoto's disease - so do I'"

Learning how to look a little perkier is something that has been on my to-do list for a while now, so if you've already mastered the art I'd be very grateful if you have any tips to share.

Millions Missing May 2018 - in Germany

Earwig is the literal translation of Ohrwurm, ie the little animal. If you want to say Ohrwurm in the sense of a catchy tune you can't get out of your head once you've heard it, you can say "earworm" in English now, a word which is only used in that context and was probably pinched from the...

Activity pacing: moving beyond taking breaks and slowing down (Antcliff et al. 2018)

My mother unfortunately had a fall and broke both legs last summer. A couple of weeks ago she went to her doctor to discuss the continuing pain. The doctor explained to her how strange it is that the brain can influence how much we perceive pain. My mother agreed that her brain was behaving very...

Millions Missing May 2018 - in Germany

I'm not sure if I should resign from Fatigatio after all, because I think it would upset the friends I have made at my local group meetings. I only meet the other members every 2 months at the fatigatio meetings, and if I stopped going I wouldn't see them at all (it's quite a drive, none of them...
