Canadian Federal Health Minister to make announcement regarding ME, August 22

Further to this - I know there is a pending decision about a grant offering.

As well, reps from Millions Missing Canada including @ScottTriGuy and Action CIND, and possibly others met with the Minister a couple months ago.

The Health Minister has acknowledged ME as a serious but stigmatized disease, and has tweeted about Severe ME Day.

I do not know what the announcement will be about.

Perhaps others do.

@ScottTriGuy?

Yes, @rvallee, it's probably likely about the grant application decision, given the location.

ETA: I am hoping it is more than that, and a general statement about the biomedical reality of ME. I know a successful grant app can do this as well, but not as directly.

Thanks @Andy for posting the media release from the federal gov't. I note the release says "formerly known as chronic fatigue syndrome". Thank you to the government for this big change, and an enormous thanks to all who promoted the change - it's taken decades!

I hope the name is standardized to ME world-wide.

ipolitics: Team Trudeau front benchers fan out to promote federal support for health research, women entrepreneurs and Yukon conservation efforts

After spending the last few days making the rounds on her Atlantic Canadian home turf, Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor heads to the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Centre in Montreal with a fresh tranche of federal cash to boost research that, according to the advisory, aims to “improve the quality of life of people living with myalgic encephalomyelitis,” which, it notes, was “formerly known as chronic fatigue syndrome.”

Still troubled by time confusion.

2pm Montreal equates to 7pm BST or have I got that wrong? That is 1 hour 5 mins from now which does not equate with the 35 mins on the countdown clock. ???
