"Seoul-based diagnostic company Seegene has developed a diagnostic kit for the novel coronavirus that reduced the time to get results from 24 hours to only six hours. The company uses an artificial intelligence-powered automated production system to produce tests more quickly".

@Jonathan Edwards I ask you as I’m not in contact right now with other health professionals other than my doctors/consultants. The situation is becoming dire. The only U turn the government has taken is banning *some* gatherings , from next weekend only. Yes some companies and organisations are doing it themselves. But we have nothing else - no remote working; no closing of schools, no closing of shops/entertainment, no special measures being put in. Faisal Islam said today that no new respirators have been bought - yet Germany bought 10,000.

So I want to ask, Do you think it can be turned around? Is there anything that can be done to persuade the government to at the very least change tack right now - and if so do you know if those people are doing it? Which scientists are the ones who are directly advising the CMO and chief scientific adviser?

Edit: 1140 cases of coronavirus in Uk today.
    10 new deaths announced today.
Was close to 600 just some days ago. And remember that increase only counts the number of people who got so sick they ended up in hospital. Not the people infected and at home.

I imagine that trying to stop an epidemic is a bit like trying to stop a stampede - the best-chance time to stop it is before it really gets going.

In France, the secretary of health and several official bodies have strongly adviced against the use of NSAIDs and Ibuprofen to treat COVID 19 after several severe cases in young people treated why NSAIDs. Is it the case elsewhere?

It's a hoax the university of Vienna says.

They were talking about cases in French hospitals I think.
It's so difficult to know the truth from the false...

video of part of her interview

eta: I listened to her full interview and apparently she and SW communicated via mobile phone. She was upstairs and he was downstairs. He took drinks etc to her and wrapped a Chelsea scarf around his nose and mouth!

Oh there seem to be different strains of this tale. According to this article the French recommendation is based on this paper that says:

"ACE2 can also be increased by thiazolidinediones and ibuprofen. These data suggest that ACE2 expression is increased in diabetes and treatment with ACE inhibitors and ARBs increases ACE2 expression. Consequently, the increased expression of ACE2 would facilitate infection with COVID-19. We therefore hypothesise that diabetes and hypertension treatment with ACE2-stimulating drugs increases the risk of developing severe and fatal COVID-19."

    (bolding by me)

It sounds like the illness was particularly bad for her. Or maybe because she is older. I hope Claire now realises what being absolutely exhausted on top of feeling like death feels like.

Clare Gerada Wessely's wife has been interviewed on the BBC after having contracted and recovered from the Coronavirus. She described it as like having a really bad case of flu and the way she recovered from it was to sleep for a long time.
No mention of CBT and just pushing through it, just lots of bed rest.

I wish Clare Gereda a full recovery as I wouldn't wish ME on anyone. It would be nice to think that she might take the time to reflect that how she felt hardly compares to the suffering of many ME patients for decades.

Perhaps she would like to imagine how it would feel to be trapped in that state for years on end and be recommended to increase her activity by 10% regardless of symptoms.

I'm sure her response to this would be that Covid-19 is not perpetuated by unhelpful beliefs.

That is a scary thought. Do we know whether the SARS outbreak in the 2000s led to people developing ME???

@Jonathan Edwards @lunarainbows In posts this morning, you mentioned that the govt had u-turned on school closures. What did you mean? I can't find anything about school closures, except in Northern Ireland.
