Thanks, everyone. Doing the crowdfunding is by far the worst part of my work. I appreciate all the support and feedback from this group, including if/when it is critical. It means a lot to me. The questions make me think.

Don’t know where to put this but this thread seems the most relevant. I created an rss feed for Trial by Error so people who get their news via RSS can be notified when a new blog comes up. https://politepol.com/fd/yNgKhc4c7HHu.xml

@Trish I wonder if it might be a good idea to edit your opening post to remove/change the link at the top of the post - which is to the decemebr project & shows 100% achieved.
I just was looking on the OP for a link to see progress on the current crowdfund, and I clicked on the link & thought 'oh great, no need to donate twice this time then...'

But then i happened to notice in tiny print on the Berkely page that it said december on it, & only then did i scroll down the OP to see your edit at the bottom of your post with the link for the current fundraiser.

So with a lot of foggy brains that may not notice/scroll down...
I'm just wondering if it might be a good idea to remove the link to the previous fundraiser at the top of the OP, & replace it completely with the current link which is at the moment, in at edit at the bottom of your post?

We dont want even one person not donating because they think the target has been reached, as almost happened to me.

Sorry that was a real ramble I hope it makes sense!

Oops, sorry, I should have done that sooner. I doubt people only see the OP of this thread, so likely no harm done.

I'm sure you're right, i was just looking for the link to donate again & i got a bit confused on this page of the thread because theres talk of Michael sharpe and other links to other bits & pieces so i just went to the OP because it was easier than scrolling through and rereading each post to clarify what its linking to. I'm not very good at finding things.

so just in case anyonbe else needs it

Here is the link to donate UC Berkeley | David Tuller's Trial by Error Spring 2024

I've had an email saying "Hi, (my name)--I really appreciate it! Can I ask if you're a patient yourself, carer, or...? And where do you live? It's helpful for me to have some idea of who the donors are.

I couldn't have kept at this for so long without the incredible patient/advocate community support--it's been pretty amazing to be able to do this work."

Has anyone else received one like this? Is it genuine? Or maybe David himself could reply?

I got something similar a few days ago.

Basically asking me, using my first name, if I was the same person as my username on here, and thanking me for my continued support.

@dave30th , please see the two posts above.

In particular, I would be concerned if I received that. Even if there were to be an obvious link between your first name and username here, I can't see why Dave, or the University of Berkeley, would need to have that connection confirmed.

I had an email from David thanking me for my donation a day or two ago. He said he's going through and writing to everyone to thank them, so it's likely to be genuine. You don't have to give information if you don't want to.
