I got an email from the Jarud Younger Lab today touting a email conference led by a Dr. Aviles. So, out of journalistic curiosity, I signed up for the newsletter and started to get a series of daily emails by quacks who are doing their fall promotions.

    These are cash businesses.

    There's no science here.

I hate it when "medical" people take advantage of the naive and ill-informed. Makes me so angry.

I am done with taking Younger seriously at all, done. I don't trust his judgment, therefore I don't trust his research as being science.

Oh dear. I got that e-mail today too. Maybe we should reply to Jarred Younger and tell him associating himself with quacks is damaging his reputation.

Do we know why he didn’t present at OMF symposium? What was he supposed to present on?

It looks from that email as if he knows very little about the conference or the other speakers. I wonder if he's just got caught out, not having enough time to look into it thoroughly?

I did write him a quick email reply saying exactly that.

I signed up to get the emails out of curiosity. I still receive them occasionally. I was surprised today to receive one with a heavily religious slant. I won't go into details as that would break our forum rule about discussing religion, but I was surprised that a doctor (edit: Dr Aviles) would be talking more like a preacher.
