Henrick Vogt: "intense negativity spread by individuals/CFS groups/researchers" partly to blame for family's suicide

A December tweet by Dr Vogt read “I find that arrogance and ignorance is a common, unbeatable and extremely annoying combination. You´re too arrogant to see you know nothing, and too dumb to see your own arrogance.” Indeed, Dr Vogt. Indeed.

I hope that parents of children with ME will find their way to the 2017 paediatric primer written by ME/CFS specialists (Rowe et al) whose empathy and deep clinical understanding permeates its pages: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fped.2017.00121/full Might be good if someone on Twitter could share the link to the primer on that thread?

Who knew it was possible to throw quite so many people under the bus in a single tweet? We’re gonna need more busses.

Sending love to the relatives and friends of this family. I can only hope they don’t see Dr Vogt’s tweet.

I simply can't find strong enough words to express how utterly repulsive I find Vogt's tweet. It's incredible that any human being can say something that crass, especially someone who is paid to be in the profession of helping sick people. And for Michael Sharpe to 'Like' it - just...ugh. Repugnant birds of a feather.

The image that comes up may not be correct but I can't do anything about that. The link goes to a comment by Kirsi Örn who has posted the translation.
Ah OK. The forum software, in trying to be helpful, cuts out the rest of the URL and simply sends me to the post, not to the individual comment. I've made an edit to your post, and listed the URL for the comment in a code box and added

Personally I think it needs challenging, and if it was in the UK I'd be at least reading up on the possibility of a complaint against him for this. And in challenging him on it, we can hold him up as, from what I've seen, a typical example of the BPS attitude to patients.
I tend to agree with @Andy. People like this should be called out on their bs. Politely and patiently, we should expose it for what it really is. Its not a good idea to allow a tweet like this to go unchallenged. People who don't know the field may think he's making a good point.

contempt? I would guess you mean, possibly, empathy or something similar.

My English fell a bit short I think. He's treating us with contempt and without empathy.

I forwarded PDF copies of this to GP and paediatrician. GP is now up for looking to improve function via looking at comorbid conditions . Paediatrician would not divert from NICE guidelines ( even though we are in Scotland and there' s a wee bit mire flexibility in the wording). I don' t think she read it. It all depends on your doctor's/ consultant' s view.
