The first biomedical fatigue journal, Fatigue: Biomedicine, Health and Behavior, is a peer review quarterly, and the official journal of the IACFS/ME. We’ve been publishing now for 12 years as a subscription journal of Taylor and Francis. Papers cover a wide range of topics including fatigue originating from disease (e.g., Long COVID; chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS); cancer), aging, occupations, and athletics/sports. The thorny problem of identifying effective treatments without clear understanding of the causes and persistence of fatigue is a challenge taken up by many of our authors and investigators.

For instance, our top downloaded article in the last 12 months was: “Stellate Ganglion Block reduces symptoms of SARS-CoV-2-induced ME/CFS: A prospective cohort pilot study.” The top cited article was: “Measuring and understanding the health impact of greater fatigability in older adults: A call to action and opportunities.”

Articles on post-exertional symptoms have also received a lot of attention from readers. A highly cited article of the last 2 years was: “Post-exertional malaise may persist in Long COVID despite learning STOP-REST-PACE.” The top Altmetric score goes to: “Can patients with chronic fatigue syndrome really recover after graded exercise or cognitive therapy? A critical commentary and preliminary re-analysis of the PACE trial.” The Altmetric score reflects the amount of online attention a research paper (or book) has received from various sources including citations, news articles, blog posts, social media, policy documents and more.

For submissions to the Fatigue journal, the average time to an initial decision for a submitted paper is 30 days. Our current impact factor is 2.2. As a subscription journal, there are no publishing fees, unless the authors opt for open access. For further information on submitting a paper, see https://www.tandfonline.com/loi/rftg20.

Professional IACFS/ME members receive online access to the journal as part of their membership and Associate IACFS/ME members receive a deep discount off of the usual subscription cost. For more information about how to join IACFS/ME, see this webpage.
