PARTICIPANT INFORMATION SHEET1 Title of Project: Investigating the social and pain experiences of people with CFS/ME

My name is Tara O’Carroll and I am a student of the Masters of Health Psychology course in NUIG. The purpose of this research is to investigate experiences of pain of people living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)/ Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), the general support they receive and their pain experiences. This research is being supervised by Dr Sinéad Conneely, an academic psychologist in NUIG.
You are invited to take part in a research study. Before you decide, it is important that you understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. This Participant Information Sheet tells you about the purpose, risks and benefits of this research study. If you agree to take part, we will ask you to confirm your Consent. If there is anything that you are not clear about, we will be happy to explain it to you via the email addresses provided. Please take as much time as you need to read this information. You should only consent to participate in this research study when you feel you understand what is being asked of you, and you have had enough time to think about your decision. 3. Purpose of the Study
This study is concerned with the social and pain experiences of people living with CFS/ME and the general support they receive. The study will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. You have been asked to take part in this study as you have a diagnosis of CFS/ME and therefore can share your experiences by completing the questionnaires and answering a few questions about yourself and your background.
