New Zealand: 2022 Petition for the NZ government to recognise ME/CFS as a disability - deadline 29 August 2022 (people living outside NZ can sign)

    The petition closed with 6444 signatures.

    That's 6444 people who would argue that the Ministry of Health response to the petition "can be experienced as disabling", not to mention insulting.

    I genuinely have no idea what possible interpretation of this even makes sense. Experience is living. Being disabled is the same as experiencing being disabled. How can something be experienced as X without being X? Without delusional interpretation of reality, of course.

    Of course what they mean is that they do not recognize the disability but know that they can't argue it coherently so they come up with this patronizing nonsense that we can all see through but no one else cares so whatever.

    Psychosomatic ideology has done more to impede the progress of medicine than any other obstacle. And it just continues to, 18th century fairy tales even though we have the technology and resources to solve this, if it only it wasn't for the near universal bad faith and complete lack of accountability for results.
