News from the USA, United States of America

Hate to say this, but it is a deliberate pseudo-Darwinian strategy to kill off those they see as the weak and unfit. Same reason (in part) for also lowering general technical and safety standards across the board

Not sure about the weak and unfit, this being the nation built upon killing off strong and fit occupied people with gifts - small-poxed blankets and alcohol - then force-marched until most of them dropped (a traditional fringe method).

All because slaves don't slave on the land they know so well, and people don't believe liars when they live together long enough to know everyone in their community, all known since birth (until being routinely scattered before it gets that bad for liars).

The strategy is only meant to apply to the poor and the out groups.

If Covid is still mysteriously crippling the rich and in groups then this could take a little longer with poors and outs hung over the precipice

In the UK, people in cities drank beer instead of foul water (which explains a lot) before the UK got water and effluent piped in and out, but only when it dawned on MPs that the stench in London was lethal for them too and it would not work to collect methane and burn it off in giant chimneys surrounding London. Oh no. Happily some engineer had a much better idea (eventually everyone got inside toilets too).

Now the doctrines have software to program instead of people who are much more trouble even when the arena is the mind not physical force. So more people got a break instead of being programmed directly for bizarre expedience. That is one theory.

They're also going to investigate Long Covid. My expectations are low:

Statement from NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya and NIAID Acting Director John H. Powers III on the New NIH Vaccinology and Immunology Center

People who report serious health problems, including those that occur after vaccination or long-term symptoms after infections, deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and evaluated with the best tools science can offer. In 1986, Congress established the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. In doing so, it recognized that vaccines have benefited many people, and that, like every medical intervention, they can also cause adverse effects in some who receive them. Recently, the experiences of Americans suffering from Long COVID have highlighted the reality that many infections can cause long-term symptoms often indistinguishable from adverse events after vaccination.

Therefore, the NIH is establishing a new research study called the Vaccinology and Immunology Center, the opening of which we marked on October 5. The center will bring together patients, physician-scientists, and laboratory researchers to investigate health problems following vaccination and infections, and turn discoveries into better care and safer vaccines.

Through the new center, NIH will:
  • Understand symptoms and pathophysiology of disease. Evaluate participants’ illnesses, examine the immunology of how vaccination or infection may have contributed, and investigate other related biological mechanisms.
  • Identify risk factors. Study why some people experience symptoms and what may make them more vulnerable to these consequences of vaccination or infection.
  • Explore treatment options. Provide treatment as appropriate under the research protocol and seek to connect participants with ongoing care closer to home.
  • Inform vaccine safety. Use findings to guide efforts to improve vaccines and vaccination practices.
NIH is finalizing the study protocol and anticipates launching the study before the end of 2026. We expect to enroll several hundred participants initially, focusing on individuals experiencing the most serious adverse effects following vaccination or long-term symptoms post-infection. Participants will enter through research enrollment and attend scheduled study visits. The center will not accept walk-in patients or offer routine appointments to the general public.

The new center is a research study within NIAID’s Vaccine Research Center clinic, which NIH established in 1999. At the NIH Clinical Center, physician-scientists and laboratory researchers will connect clinical evaluations with laboratory investigations. Advances in immunology give these teams new tools to examine individual responses to vaccination and infection and to investigate the mechanisms underlying participants’ symptoms.

Quest Diagnostics reports cyber breach affecting 'certain patient records'

But of course!

Answer to my first question about this:
Quest Diagnostics confirmed to The Associated Press Thursday that its cyber breach was not related to the PHP issue.

Interestingly, I haven't heard of any actual damage to websites yet from the PHP exploit.

From Leonard Jason .. "Good news .. "SARS-CoV-2 and EBV-orchestrated activation of the kynurenine pathway"

On p.66 of News from the USA...

"integration of distinct disciplines and know-how .. test . hypothesis . pathogenic induction of . Kynurenine pathway (KP) is a key foundation for the progression..."

"A" key, not "the" key. How many key foundations might there be here?

.. shared pathophysiologic mechanisms that predispose a subset of individuals exposed to .. virus infections

But what if it is not an originating pre-disposition? Can less competitive viral variants remain undifferentiated, causing post-viral syndromes at random, then knocking aside some genes in the way? Is that possible?

South Carolina’s measles outbreak jumped to Washington state 5 times in 2 weeks

International travel used to be the main risk of measles cases in the US—not anymore.

Quote from the end
While the study highlights how readily this virus can spread among states amid declining vaccination, it also contradicts a common talking point from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Kennedy, a prominent anti-vaccine advocate, has downplayed the current measles surge in the US and aggressively defended against suggestions that his decades of anti-vaccine misinformation and disinformation have contributed to the surge in cases and drop in vaccination.

Instead, Kennedy claims that there is a “global outbreak” and the US is “doing a better job than any country in the world at controlling the measles outbreak.” Both claims are false. Dozens of other countries have lower case rates than the US. While some countries, including neighboring Canada and Mexico, are also seeing large increases in cases, the soaring case tally in the US is not being driven by international imports, but by domestic spread in under-vaccinated communities.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only 18 of the country’s 4,588 confirmed measles cases this year were reported among international visitors. Of all the cases, 4,404 (96 percent) are linked to a domestic outbreak. The US has had 43 new outbreaks this year.
