#MEAction's press release, which includes some interesting stuff I didn't know: https://www.meaction.net/2018/10/19/40423/?mc_cid=4e593df715&mc_eid=6ca23f694f
On my way to bed and will have to save until tomorrow what looks like a very good piece by @JaimeS: https://www.meaction.net/2018/10/19/join-the-fight-in-new-york/
Thanks Sasha! Initially 'married' to the Cochrane review stuff, but was yanked apart. Cochrane article by Adriane w/input from me will probably be done today but may be out tomorrow.
This is a crazy idea but has anyone asked Karina Hansen if she would be willing to fly to Manhattan to the protest to speak? There would be cost and crashing involved but a thought Maybe a video conference with a giant screen and a high powered sound system instead?
At her level of severity just being moved outside might be a major issue. I doubt she could do this, unless she makes or has made major progress.
Ah, i had no idea her current severity The video conference idea (if she is interested) would probably work much better then.
I don't either, but not long ago she was in the very severe category, and some doctors were muttering about brain damage. If she has made major progress that would be fantastic, and I hope she has, but until we know that she needs rest.
I'm very pleased to see this, because protests by patients are one thing (and patients with a presumed somatoform disorder chanting, 'We're not mad!' are in a cleft stick) but questions put by professionals at the event are quite another. I'd love to know what was said, and how Per Fink responded, and what the attendees said as well.
More on this soon, I'm sure. I will say that the conference was very small, and one of Fink's talks was attended by a whopping twelve people or so.
I don't think this has been shared in this thread? A statement from Per Fink himself from Oct. 17th published by Aarhus University Hospital The department, the research and the treatments we have developed since 1999 have proven very successful and are well accepted both by most patients and colleagues. Initiated by The Danish Health Authority, this has now resulted in the implementation of similar clinics for functional disorders in all Danish regions (see English summary on p. 6 in the report 'Functional disorders. Recommendations for assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and destigmatization', published by The Danish Health Authority, June 2018). https://www.sst.dk/da/udgivelser/20...behandling-rehabilitering-og-afstigmatisering).
