Yes the very first post, though there was no link to donate to but his 2nd tweet was
"So many open questions that need to be answered. But the question here is how to get that money for further work?"

    I'll edit my post accordingly.

Thanks. I think more recently he said he didn’t want people to donate directly to him?

It would create the appearance of a conflict of interest?

Perhaps I wasn't clear. He didn't want to crowd-fund either through himself or through donations to his university (as I recall), I think he said he prefers to get grants.
Can't remember what if any reason he gave. I imagine it can be a bit messy.

I doubt that crowdfunding from a maligned population perceived mostly as annoying pests is good for an academic career, where getting large grants is basically the measure of one's success.

The problem with that is the system, but it's the system we have, not the one we deserve. But we saw the same problem with the nanoneedle. It's not just the money right here and now, it's also the future money and being able to gain status. Academia is all eminence.

Both M.E and LC have the same biomarker? Could it be PEM related. I wonder.

Is he referring to a known "ME" biomarker or something well known that has not been linked with ME until now?
If it is the former then it's news to me as I'm not aware of one.

I reserve judgement. I don't like guessing games when it relates to my health.

We've seen him make statements like this before. I hope he's right of course, but I'd prefer if he would just come out with this news once we're actually able to read about it and judge it for ourselves. Not a fan of hyping stuff beforehand when people are desperate for answers.

The fact that he added ‘fingers crossed’ at the end means he can’t confirm it. Sigh. I really really hope he’s found it but I’m used to the let downs…

The first tweet made me think it was being published tomorrow or next week. Latest one I've seen talks about presenting findings at meetings in May and June. So it sounds like publication is not imminent.

as most of us are, but its totally irresponsible - not to mention unkind- to raise hopes of desperate people unless you are cast iron certain.

Many PwME may not survive another let down.

Like wise. However, I do think we should be careful trying to reading his tweets. English is his 3rd language and whilst he speaks it very well the subtleties of interpretation that we hang on might not be obvious to him.

To me he comes across as a person who genuinely emphasises with pwME. I don't think he ever intends to give false hope, and has caveated posts on his research in the past to manage expectations.

Will be interesting to see what is presented in a couple of months time.

Optimistically that could be read as "fingers crossed it's actually a very good news". Or simply "fingers crossed" for the future of ME/LC.
