It’s because they’ve subset. If you need to get to more specific subsets, you’ll first cluster around two more general markers, draw a box, and then cluster further only on cells in that box. That’s how you get studies saying they sorted something like CD45+CD11b+CD4-CD8-Ly6G-SiglecF-NK1.1-CD64+ cellsWhy does figure 12C differ from 12A, in terms of CD3 distribution?
In 12A, there's a cluster around the 0 mark on the y-axis. But there's no cluster there in 12C.
