Sure enough, but it doesn't help that many of the prominent voices screaming overdiagnosis are themselves physicians, including many members of those two associations. And those are the same professional lobbies saying all the same things about many other illnesses, it's their official stated position, to the point where they declared opposition to evidence.

Everything they write here applies just as much to us, and they're not just on the wrong side of it, they effective are the wrong side. The arguments from ADHD deniers/minimizers are the exact same that are popular within the profession about anything they don't understand yet, like chronic illness.

If experts can't be consistent, all this does is cause more confusion and misinformation to spread. This like giving conflicting instructions and punishing people for not doing things they cannot do.
