That bit about the quiet word between Bristol Uni and David Tuller's employer is sinister. And it reminds me of the same strategy Keith Geraghty revealed that was used to try to discredit him with his University. Very unethical.

Perhaps it's time for David's University to have a quiet and confidential word with Bristol Uni suggesting they look more closely at the quality and ethics of Crawley's work. They are making fools of themselves supporting her in this.

I assume that the Berkeley don't seem to have told David means that the quiet word didn't work. It is a very british establishment thing to do. But it does say that Bristol University is backing Crawely at a senior level and I suspect it also means they are doing so without any level of governance to check that she is correct.

To me this raises the point that the Vice Chancellor is approving of Crawley doing work without getting ethical approval and stigmatizing patients as well as Bristol University standing by some poor trial methodologies.

In Professor Holgate’s considered view, what is the plausible biological mechanism through which a course of CBT or GET could fix or “reverse” the dysfunctional energy production cycle identified by the “exciting results” of the Newcastle study? If the mitochondria are not generating sufficient energy for normal cellular function, how can changing patients’ thoughts about their illness and encouraging a steady increase in exercise resolve those physiological defects?

Bristol must have simply taken Crawleys word that there's nothing in any of the complaints against her. Basic thing about investigating any complaint is to actually explore the issues before deciding to back someone. Otherwise you eventually have to back down and the longer it goes on the more of a mess it becomes with bigger and bigger reputational risks to the organisation.

Bristol need to get past her eyelash fluttering and simpering and actually look at the substance

The more these people are pushed, the more they expose their misdemeanors as they squirm to try and hide them. Which I'm sure David Tuller is only too well aware of. He's great.
 
I think David is doing an amazing job. Just the unraveling so far surely must be tempting for a few British investigative journalists to pick up the story. The outrage at the moment from officials trying to cover things up is at an all time high ( Hillsborough, Deepcut, contaminated blood etc.).

I agree the back room conversations seem to reveal some pretty sleazy old school tie stuff. But does this really work anymore? Seems it's only for the select few thank goodness.
 
Bristol are making even bigger fools of themselves now.

Not only are they supporting EC and her appallingly bad research methods, but they are now supporting her smearing David Tuller and adding to it by trying to influence his employer, and they have now admitted in writing to doing so.

They are digging themselves into a very big hole.

Looks like it's backfired on them big time. Not only did it not work, they have now gone and blurted publicly that they did it, likely in an attempt to intimidate DT ... and to maybe try and give some half-arsed "credibility" to EC's also-blurted statement. Nice one Bristo Uni, you are doing a good job :rolleyes: ... on our behalf.

British universities are getting a very bad reputation for their failure to deal with complaints and for governance in general. There have been a number of issues around universities failing to deal with sexual harassment allegations against staff. The latest issue to hit university governance it that Vice Chancellors are sitting on the remuneration committees that decide their own pay.
 
I would really love to see an FOI along the lines of:

Esther Crawley recently claimed to have previously received an threatening email in a presentation she gave which caused some confusion. The email in question appears to be a mock up by an artist of an alleged phone call to another professor of which there is no provable record and has previously appeared in the Times newspaper.

Was such an email reported to the University of Bristol by any staff member or brought to the attention of Bristol university by Esther Crawley as part of a harassment claim against herself?

This would do two things, one make Bristol go and check their records for such a reported claim and two enlighten them to the fact that the claim at the presentation really requires clarification in terms of what she was alledging that day.
