UK: London GP's told to restrict specialist referrals under new NHS 'rationing' plan (The Guardian, 8 Sep 2019)

Good to see the end of austerity as announced by the current UK government.

Their cash injections into the NHS are are obviously working, or is it that London does not represent a place that redirecting money from other budgets will buy votes in the next election. (Sorry a cynical political digression, hope I am not breaching forum rules.)
 
I think I read in the Guardian that there is a new plan that when anyone is hungry and thirsty they should get food and drink within 52 weeks minimum. I may have got that wrong.

(Note: I have just prorogued the moderation team so they cannot do anything about posts that might seem to be political but are in fact just a bit of innocent fun.):whistle:

How does that work? Do you put your skin cancer on hold while you're seeing a consultant about your asthma? Or perhaps the asthma specialist is expected to do skin cancer surgery in their spare time.

That's what I was wondering. Thank God I don't live in London. So far this year I've had to see a specialist about my kidneys, a specialist to see if I have Sjorgren's Syndrome and a blood cancer; her tests were inconclusive so now I'm going in to see a hematologist, and depending on my next diagnostic mammogram, I might still need to see an oncologist for breast cancer. How does someone decide which one is more important??
 
There's this whole network of unaccountable "clinics" out there that don't even bother finding out whether their pseudoscience works that no one would miss if they were cut, as well this whole massive reform of all medicine under the guise of some neo-Freudian ideology that could do well with a bit of curb-stomping.

But I guess this is not what the NHS have in mind, rather critical services will be cut while the bloated whale carcasses that have sprung out of Wessely's pipe dreams will remain despite being so obviously useless. If only some small bits of good could come out of this mess.
 
It is another step in destroying the NHS. They need people to start disliking the NHS as it is too well loved to get rid of just now.

Once relatives start dying of skin cancer because they already have asthma, people will back insurance based medicine.
