But @Jonathan Edwards only said that it sounded positive :)
(with a lot of caveats )

    Sorry I don't buy this.

If the CMRC want to be effective they should secure funding for good quality biomedical research.
It doesn't have to be a MEGA pie with everyone getting a slice, it can be anyone with the knowledge and ability to perform research of the level we need.

If the CMRC are serious they need to admit the failings of the past, there needs to be a complete clean sweep of the old guard. They need to form a clear entity which takes a position against poor quality research, and they need to ditch the SMC.

Or maybe they should just disband. Let those who are serious about proper biological research join another organisation that is patient friendly. Or set up one that is patient friendly and hopefully refuse any psychiatrists membership.

I'd welcome sane psychiatrists. Unfortunately ME seems to attract the other sort.

We end up with some very good ones too :) Which is why I wouldn't have a blanket exclusion.

Can we clone her enough times to fill a critical mass of psychiatrist positions worldwide? :woot:

We would need a safeguard against her always agreeing with herself and replicating her own studies. What if she was ever wrong about something?

I don't have the hang of Twitter but found that if I clicked on the time-stamped (currently says 17h but that may change) at the top right of Emma Joy's post above, you can see the whole conversation.

I continue to be impressed by Chris Ponting.

Wow, this snippet looks encouraging, especially Mark Vink's end comment ...

People on Twitter (sorry, I'm not) could encourage him to do a Q&A with us in the same way that we did with Montoya. We gather the questions first and then do a video Q&A with him.

We can deal with that problem later, lets get some real science done first. :woot:

Yes, I'm a research psychologist, with a background In Experimental Psychology.

I think its completely fair to say that Psychology, as a discipline, has played a huge rule in the awful situation you now find yourselves in. The culture in some areas of Psychology is not as critical as it could be. So I don't mind people criticising the discipline at all.

I'm not a psychiatrist, but consider that discipline to share many of the same problems, and then some - to do with the lack of thorough training in scientific methodology in that profession.

Which of course introduces the notion of insane psychiatrists, which sounds like something of a joke ... oh, yes, ha haa ... that's exactly what those particular ones are, as in sick joke.
