The Cell Danger Response and the Healing Cycle in Chronic Illness​

Inflammation is the body’s normal response to danger. The body’s inflammatory response is meant to be transient – when that response is ongoing, and especially when the inciting event (pathogens, toxic elements) persists, the normal tamping down of inflammation doesn’t occur. Looking for what is broken is no longer the answer.

Patients we see have dysfunction, but they are not broken. Conventional medicine, what Bob Naviaux calls the First Book of Medicine, is great for when you are broken; an accident, a broken bone, an acute infection. For patients with chronic illness, looking for what is broken is no longer the answer. For them, we have to start creating the Second Book of Medicine. This is where the concepts of functional medicine are brought to life.

He started practicing in my town several decades ago and ran into some medico-legal sanctioning of some sort (due to quackery) a few years ago.

His quacking continues.

Northern California is a bastion for this.

Edited to add: I'm sure the book download on the s how they generate income; I've seen this same format a couple of years ago. Overwhelm the event website with a dozen photos of so-called experts (free registration) then a pricey book download filled with quack-bits. (Everyone is out to nickel and dime you since the tariffs...)

I was in the Naviaux metabolic validation study sponsored by the OMF. Dr Gordon conducted a qualifiying interview with me for entrance into this study (which was never published). I was not impressed. I was rather shocked at the lackadaisical nature of the interview.
