NHS England chief criticises Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop products and Netflix series

NHS England CEO Simon Stevens has accused, quite rightly, Gwyneth Paltrow's 'dubious wellness products and dodgy procedures' of being potentially damaging to health, as well as her Netflix series spreading misinformation and pseudoscience. Maybe he should take a look at his own organisation -...

Articles on ME/CFS by Margaret Williams and Professor Malcolm Hooper 1986-2018 With contributions from Eileen Marshall (1994-2007) and others

I'm not sure that a lot of people outside the UK realise the extent of the damage to patients by SW and Co, although their ideas were exported abroad and patients in other countries abused by their own doctors and health services. ME has the most awful stigma because of them, even now. They...

Articles on ME/CFS by Margaret Williams and Professor Malcolm Hooper 1986-2018 With contributions from Eileen Marshall (1994-2007) and others

If there is ever a public inquiry about ME these documents could be useful. They definitely need preserving as they document the appalling treatment of ME patients in this country over many years. Thank you so much Margaret Williams and Malcolm Hooper.

David Tuller crowdfund: Trial By Error: Reporting on ME/CFS and Related Controversies

I don't think there will be another matching pledge but I wonder if someone will make a large donation at the last minute to top up to $95000. Hope so!

United Kingdom: Isle of Man ME/CFS and Long Covid services (Manx, ME Support IOM)

No doubt they will consult the NICE guidelines and come up with the usual CBT/GET. Better off without the 'specialist services' that we have on the mainland.

David Tuller crowdfund: Trial By Error: Reporting on ME/CFS and Related Controversies

It would be good if news of the matching grant could be put somewhere more prominent on the forum.

What could be done about the Science Media Centre (SMC) in the UK

The Countess of Mar as the Chair of Forward-ME threatened to report the SMC to the Charity Commission last year I think. It was to do with a so called "fact sheet on CFS/ME " that they had published. I don't know what happened as a result.

    Forward-ME Group Minutes – 17th July 2018

Talking to an opponent is a good thing though. To try to engage with them and get a point over. However I imagine they won't respond to the Countess.

    Forward-ME Group Minutes – 17th July 2018

I am always amazed at how few of the different charities attend the meetings. There is always a long list of apologies. Obviously not a priority for a lot of people. Charles Shepherd nearly always attends however. Not sure that M E has gone forward a lot in spite of their efforts.

    Article by Paul Worthley

Her treatment was paid for by an insurance company. Some ME patients who went there were funded by the ME Trust. Any doctors working there would still have to use NICE guidelines if they want to keep their registration.

Somebody I know was in Burrswood a few years ago after being very severely injured in a car crash. She was there for rehabilitation and had a lot of physio to get her moving again. Very caring people and a lovely place. I think they have done a lot of very good work. As far as their treatment...
