Out of respect for Anne Örtegren, I'm sharing this photo from today's conference of Invest in ME Research Trustee Richard Simpson, organiser of the charity's conference events along with Pia Simpson and Chairman, Kathleen McCall, with the help of fellow staunch advocates such as Anne.

A few weeks before her death she wrote to me on Facebook, "I feel very strongly about IiMER and am just in awe of what Pia, Richard and everyone involved have accomplished. Where would we be without them?"

Here is the tribute paid to Anne by the charity upon hearing the news of her death: http://www.investinme.org/AnneÖrtegren.shtml

This is the page on their conference site about today's memorial lecture: http://investinme.eu/IIMEC13-news-180202.shtml

Here is Nancy Van Hoylandt by the way, she represents the European ME Alliance on the European Federation of Neurological Associations, which runs the Under The Umbrella of neurological disorders awareness campaign.

Theoharides threw out a lot of info about how mast cells are, in theory, are implicated in many illnesses.

Mady Hornig's presentation reviewed what factors might need to be investigated to identify subsets within ME heterogeneity.

His talk title is "ME/CFS from a sleep medicine perspective", was really interesting, at least to me.

I guess that's it... I hope some people who were there will give us a bit of detail, once they've had a rest! :)

I'll try to put some thoughts together when I get a chance.

For now - It was interesting without learning anything too new.

The biggest take-home message is probably just the amount of research work going on now. But I think we are still a bit away from any Eureka moment.

Ron Davis' "metabolic trap" theory had him optimistic and excited but he cautions things never turn out to be straightforward. He thinks he will know if his theory is sound or not within a year.
His link to trypanosome was also interesting.

Some good talks, the more interesting ones are sometimes the least expected.
