My latest letter to Archives of Disease in Childhood

I sent the following e-mail today to Dr Nick Brown, the editor-in-chief of Archives of Disease in Childhood, the journal that published the Lightning Process study a year ago. I cc’d Dr Fiona Godlee, editorial director of BMJ, which publishes Archives.

well they published the comment a while ago--they know that the study is a sham. It just depends on what they plan to do. I think they're waiting till climate change wipes us out and they won't have to do anything.

Same here. If these people don't act in the best interests of patients, there's less than no point in them.

This is the UK.
Generally it seems that if there is a cock up / scandal that we wait until either people are dead, or no longer practising ( retired) before any actions are taken.

You only have to refer to recent paedophile scandals and the current very slow progress of the contaminated blood inquiry to get a feel for how this stuff generally pans out.

I had a friend in the late 1980s who was a heamophiliac , was affected and sadly died from from AIDS.

Wow, they're just investigating that now? I mean, many wars have been fought and lost since then. It's not like it was a secret in the '80s that that happened.

In cricket which is a game game played over 5 days there was a well known England batsman who was particularly known for his defensive batting where he would stand his ground protecting himself from being bowled out but scoring at a very low run rate. This defensive batting strategy is a very apt metaphor for the behaviour of the establishment who believe that if they just keep playing defensive shots they will ultimately grind down the opponent. However I see @dave30th as a spin bowler who will be equally dogged and ultimately bowl them out.
