I'm concerned about these accusations coming from a certain M Sharpe:

I don't think there is any need for concern @Lucibee. Sharpe is making more and more of a fool of himself. Nobody is paying David to damage an area of research. He is being paid to foster honest peer review. Nothing David has said can legitimately be construed otherwise. The only time this 'activism' has been tested in a legal context, it was seen to be valid and appropriate. David 's position is bulletproof and that will become clearer with time.

I was thinking that should be a response to Sharpe, "if you believe that then show us the specific flaws in his articles".

Quite. But it's the fact that he's making the accusation. Why would he even go there?

When you have painted yourself into a corner where else can you go?

On a happier note, we’re already about $2k into the potentially $5k to be doubled, in less than 24 hrs.

Yippee prompted me to stump up my planned 2nd contribution to benefit from the matching. Great to have another year of DTs work to look forward to.

All I can think of is that he is desperately trying to save his career. And being at Oxford he will have come to think nobody else matters and nobody will take him down in the end,. He is wrong. I was at Oxford once too.

I suspect he will retire before he gets fired if his career is truly at risk.

Perhaps, he is just so used to being around those who hold the same views and beliefs he has become arrogant enough to think that everyone else will just believe what he says?

He is talking about himself. In his own parlance this is called projectional identification.

He's doing a fine job of damaging that area of research himself.

4 or 5 days left. Spread the word. Don't forget to take advantage of Erica's double offer.

Let's overshoot much more if we can.

Thank you the $10,000 anonymous donator, everyone who has donated big and small, and Erica for your very generous up to $5,000 donation! And many, many thanks to you @dave30th!!

That is awesome, that would bring us over half way to the $5k fund matching.

I count from my second donation, which I made right after the announcement. It was at $74,461 or something like that.

It’s not necessarily even close to accurate, but it’s something to keep me entertained between naps :asleep:
