I know you feel uncomfortable taking personal PayPal payments, which I understand, but have you seen this?:

If your concern is about transparency, then if the crowdfunding tool shows the total raised, you could donate that to your own UCB fund and get them to issue a receipt for the amount, which you could scan and post online.

Hi, @Allele, thanks for checking. I posted on Facebook asking that people donate only in their own names or anonymously. The names made me chuckle also when I saw them but it's really best if people don't do that on the crowdfunding page. There haven't been others since then, but maybe it's best to delete just so others don't get any ideas about funny follow-up names. Thanks.

 

Did Sharpe's twitter activity cause an increase in donations?

A lot of people on that Twitter thread thanked Sharpe for providing the link to the crowdfund page and said they were now going to donate. Including one person who said they were going to donate quite a large amount; I looked at the list of the latest donors on the crowdfund page this morning, and that person had indeed donated the large amount promised, which is wonderful. Sharpe's tweet was a spectacular own goal, ha ha.
