It's been highlighted to me that there is a

"Patient Day

On Saturday 29th August, a separate patient afternoon will be organised. Participants of the conference will provide an easy language presentation of their work. More information will follow soon!"

Information elsewhere on the site states that it will be livestreamed but not whether there would be a charge for it or not.
 
Meetings like this are usually organised by companies that make money out of people wanting to 'network' for commercial reasons.

Looking at the World Health Network website it seems an odd rather amateurish looking set-up with bold goals but very little detail. I think it very likely that someone has seen this as a moneyspinner. I have o idea whether or not anybody is likely to attend.

The ISLC-PAIS Conference team are committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and science-based environment for all attendees and speakers. We are currently in direct contact with technical partners, to hire / barter Air Disinfection Systems, and have already conducted preliminary assessments at the venue. These assessments indicate that a very high level of air renewal is possible in large parts of the building, which gives us a strong baseline to work from. In addition to ventilation capacity, we are preparing continuous indoor air quality monitoring during the conference using professional CO₂ monitoring units. These systems do not rely on large public displays, but provide real-time readings directly to designated members of the conference team via their mobile devices. Alerts are triggered if thresholds are exceeded, allowing us to immediately coordinate with the venue’s technical staff to adjust ventilation where needed. Regarding personal protective measures, we strongly encourage the use of high-quality masks in all indoor settings to help protect our community and will have a supply of high-quality masks available on site, and hand disinfectant stations will be placed throughout the venue.

The program has been published. Great to see so many familiar faces in Amsterdam. I was however surprised to see the AIR Amygdala Retraining pop up there as well. Claiming to improve fatigue, dysautonomia and inflammatory markers.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up.

I see they are using a waitlist control. And they had planned objective measurements. If those are not highlighted in the presentation I think we can be fairly certain they didn’t find anything.

The COVID-19 Pandemic had highlighted the urgent need for a Paradigm shift in the way we approach post-acute infection syndromes.
ISLC-PAIS aims to answer this call to action islc-pais.com

More research, better medical education & specialist training, Guidelines, CPD, recognition that PAIS is not rare and patients are suffering terribly.
Bringing PAIS into mainstream medicine and working with scientists and patient advocates to help do this.

On Saturday 29 August, a Patient Conference Recap will take place, designed specifically for people living with PAIS, including Long COVID.

During this session, selected conference speakers and participants will provide accessible, plain-language summaries of key insights presented during the conference. The aim is to share the most relevant scientific and clinical developments in a format that is meaningful and understandable for patients and their supporters.

This session will be accessible both onsite and via a livestream, with the opportunity for online participants to submit questions during the session. Further details about registration and participation will follow.

Has anyone heard more about this?
 
PAIS...Long Covid...PAIS, they really seem completely determined to never mention ME.

Maybe there is another thread for this discussion, but in general I don't think "PAIS" is a useful category and I have problems to understand why some researchers seem to think otherwise.

Long Covid already often is used as a catch-all that's only defined by the trigger and can mean everything, lung damage, ME, sleep problems whatever. PAIS is even worse, it's neither defined by a specific trigger nor specific symtoms and it's also not mentioned in the ICD, so why are they insisting on using this term?
