(Not a recommendation) Bath University, Volunteer for research investigating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

"What will it involve?
Filling in questionnaires on fatigue and thinking styles eg worry"

I need to think about what my 'thinking style' is, is that something I should worry about?
The study is truly absurd and patronising drivel. I thought it had quietly dropped out of existence due to a combination of derision and lack of interest, so it's rather surprising to see that they're still trying to recruit. Still no/not enough takers, since 8/9/17? Gee, I wonder why that is.

It says

It aims to distinguish between strategies that may be unhelpful, and more adaptive coping strategies which reduce rather than maintain anxiety.

Clear conflation of anxiety and ME. Some very unhelpful, false illness beliefs right there.

Participants will complete questionnaires before and after to investigate the intention and effects of behaviours.

Subjective questionnaires.

Really, what could possibly go wrong?

As we know from long experience -- thoughtful words have never translated into thoughtful actions with this group. The thoughtfulness is a veneer even if they sound sincere as I expect they no doubt believe their own words and mean what they say. But their actions always speak altogether differently.

The hardest thing for me is not the BPS people it's the PwME who keep going down the rabbit hole believing BPS propaganda expecting something new.

It's hard to say it and no doubt not politic. And the worst part is that the need to be cynical about this means trust has been broken and that has lasting and devastating consequences beyond the personal.
