The ME Show

Episode 8 is now available.
Gary Burgess speaks to Greg Crowhurst, a full time carer to his wife Linda who has severe M.E. Greg talks candidly about the realities of being a carer, and of Linda’s symptoms. He also shares some of the coping mechanisms they’ve developed over the years, and about a book he’s written to support others in a similar situation.

Thank you @Gary Burgess and Greg and Linda Crowhurst. A very powerful and moving interview. My best wishes to Greg and Linda - they have had a very hard road to travel and their love for each other shines through.

Greg mentioned getting some treatment which made Linda's ME much worse. I am greatly saddened by that, but, sadly, not surprised - I assume it involved increasing activity.

Finally managed to catch up and listen to episode 6 today. @Trish you were already a big hero of mine, but that interview was cape-worthy. Everything you said was bang on the money. Not quite as posh as I expected, but still quite the lady.

I do my listening in the car, and I was so engrossed listening today that my driving brain switched to auto-pilot and I ended up driving to the wrong customer and being 10 minutes late for the one I should have been going to. So of course I just walked in and said "sorry I'm late, I was so engrossed listening to a friend of mine being interviewed on the radio that I took a wrong turn".

Favourite bit was @Trish's splendid summary of the PACE trial in one word:

Second favourite bit was the appreciation of at least having had a life before ME hit, which is exactly how I feel.

Hello all

We’re up to episode 9 of The ME Show, out today.

I speak to Chantelle who set up a friendship group online in Gloucestershire. The group now also holds coffee mornings for those who are able to also physically attend. It’s brough people together and helped at least one member with her political campaigning for better ME awareness and understanding.

Thanks @Gary Burgess. It's good to hear that a local group is functioning so well.

Such groups are very dependent on individuals. I haven't had a good experience of my local group in the past (10 and more years ago), though, to be fair, some other people seemed to like it sufficiently for it to keep going.

Edited for clarity.

Is this new info? @Gary Burgess said at the end of episode 9 that "Next time, in the final episode of the series, we'll review the recent parliamentary debate about ME...." so I was expecting that episode at least.

Indeed he did. I was expecting another episode too. But then when one didn't happen the following Monday, I must have rewritten my memory in the light of its non-appearance.
