Trisha Greenhalgh on ME/CFS and Long Covid

Update, the forum account is now definitely blocked but not my personal one (so far).
Seems it always can get much worse than I initially tend to think -- so she now says she "had to" mass-block several thousand people.

"If you or someone you know has been blocked in error, please contact me and ask for them to be reinstated. Happy (indeed, keen) to be followed by people who disagree with me. Zero tolerance for personal abuse."

I guess it's several thousands that have been blocked in error.

I'm beginning to feel excluded. I'm not blocked yet. ;)
I really don't care. I use twitter very little and have given up any hope of changing anyone's mind about anything with a tweet. They tend to just dig their heels in if they get lots of disagreement.

My emphasis...

She appears to have changed her mind on "not blocking critics". She's now blocked thousands of people on Twitter, including many who have never heard of her and many who have never interacted with her or referred to her in any way. So, her Twitter account will be an absolutely perfect example of an echo chamber from now on. How sweet - and pointless.
On 2nd thought it's possible I mixed Greenhalgh here with, I think, Fiona Godlee. I really should stop relying on my memory.

But she did publish an article gushing about a patient-led research institute and how important it is to listen to patients, a point she makes loudly with LC, so frankly the point still stands.

I suspect that Greenhalgh may have simply looked up certain hashtags and moved on to block all using the hashtag, not unlike the previous guy who did that too, i can’t remember who it was. I also suspect that she may have been recommended to do so by other ME- or SMC related researchers.

She suggests contacting her if you've been blocked by accident. How would I contact her when she's blocked me? She also suggests having an unblocked friend let her know and she'll unblock you if you're not really implicated. How would I find such a person, since everyone involved (except @Trish, for unknown reasons) is blocked?

Must be. I was also blocked today, never had anything to do with her or P Garner or anyone

Truly the Wessely school -- throwing people with ME under the bus while passing off scientific criticism as personal abuse.

She probably blocked everyone who uses #pwME, #MECFS, #MyalgicE etc.

And I'm sure she fucking knows what she's doing.

She *is* behaving in a way that is anti science.

She must know that. She knows enough about evidence based medicine to know that what she says about ME and LC is NOT evidence based.

So yes, she *is* behaving in an up-herself way, too.

I wouldn't presume to say that she hates us all, but she certainly doesn't appear to care about the great harm that she's causing us.

But we will not be silent. We will not be scared by false accusations being made about us. We think, oh we have to be nice and gracious, otherwise they'll just treat us worse. Well that's a thought that abuse victims everywhere experience. But these people will try to abuse us whatever we do. We shouldn't have to be scared of speaking out in strong terms against what they're doing. We shouldn't have to be scared of calling a spade a spade.

They, collectively, are abusing the patient community, and I shan't be afraid to say that any longer.
