Review Ignored, Dismissed, and Minimized: Understanding the Harmful Consequences of Invalidation in Health Care [...], 2025, Bontempo et al

And worse than that.
Yeah, actually if it was just that it would barely be a problem.

It's like being sad at your house being burned down in a way that insurance won't cover. Yes, sad. But, also: house and everything in it is a total loss.

It just keeps focusing on the wrong thing. Always the wrong thing. Never the right thing. This damn ideology is literally worse than a broken clock at being minimally, even accidentally, right.

And worse than that.
We need to start quantifying it. And not in some pretend ‘a bit of therapy will help pretend we’ve help whilst still don’t give people the justice that is the first thing they need to heal’.

But next to someone’s name the list of injuries caused , avoidable or not. This isn’t an area where it’s eg heart surgeons taking on ‘the riskiest cases’ it’s a choice at every stage to dump those whose face fits into that hell whatever they have.

I keep saying why can’t we don’t we have an everyone’s invited version for this to at least let these stories be told and give people that relief. It’s the numbers and patterns that make it obvious it’s not accidental or ‘just life’ and show the extent of how far the structure got created to ensure there is no escape.

People who harm others in whatever way need to be held to account for the lifetime scar and chunk of that person they wrecked - even if the victim is amazing enough to do their best despite and deserves that. We need to stop pretending consequences aren’t what they are, aren’t something the perpetrator should wear as shame and not their victim and that taking full accountability as a bare minimum can be evaded without injuring that person constantly again.

If they claim they did it at first because they ‘had good intentions’ then at some point they’d have heard the impact and changed.

. Otherwise doing the wrong thing pays. And not checking what you do harms pays. So how can anyone who cares compete?
