Paul Garner on Long Covid and ME/CFS - BMJ articles and other media.

"I spoke to someone who recovered from #mecfs. NHS "expert" she was ill for life. "So I decided to find my own way". The NHS is captured by an ideology that denies recovery, is regressive, and discriminates against people in desperate need of help. Shame on you
@Nicecomms your guidance harms people"
This is getting real close to satire territory. To lie so brazenly about things that are easy to verify as saying the exact opposite. Next thing they're going to claim that we are literally in charge? Occupying all the top posts? Funding our lobby with millions in lavish gifts?

Lying has become completely normalized, it's freaking everywhere all the time.

It’s a weird space to be in,
to have had to actively and doggedly campaign and advocate and be harmed, and to be getting some recognition, relevant research and investment into scientific biomedical causes and treatments,
to immediately then be cast as the playground bullies/establishment, keeping everyone sick by the “neuroplasticity once cured somebody though, and science hasn't helped anyone so far” brigade.

Pretty sure the majority of us here assumed we would recover during the earlier years? My ME doctor told me I would b/c I was 'atypical'.

He spoke to 'someone" who recovered from ME/CFS. :emoji_eyes: Is Paul interviewing simulated patients that are creating clinical scenarios and portraying specific medical conditions? I'll continue checking in on him to make sure he's doing ok.

Probably needed to speak to someone given his own “I met the criteria for ME” story wasn’t all that straightforward.
As I always say, whichever side you may be on, he is not a reliable narrator, he can’t be doing the credibility of these programmes much good.

It's just bizarro world stuff, isn't it. I would have trouble believing it if I had not experienced it in my face for 42 years.

If you tried to pitch it as an idea for a movie you would be told it is too implausible.

Yet, that is exactly what is happening in the real world.

"4 doctors describe psychoeducation and incremental activity to help recover from #mecfs/#longcovid /PPS -all part of contemporary RCTS. Shows the nuance in coaching people to recovery"

"Healthy sickness response is healthy in the short term but can result in longer-term fatigue and depression #mecfs #longcovid"

one of them...... talks about 'neuroscience' a lot but then slips in that's its based on a 'theory', so where is the science? The RCT therapy was only 4 sessions over 2 weeks, with some online self-help. (I haven't looked to see if there's a paper somewhere).

eta: the second mini video...........lots of ifs and maybes.

They don't even have the courage of their convictions, they have to qualify the bejeebus out of it to cover their arses with several get out of jail free cards.
