The expanding potential of low-dose naltrexone in clinical practice with a focus on long COVID
Practice Points
1. Use of low-dose naltrexone, typically dosed between 3 and 5 mg, is increasing in clinical practice for indications such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, and post-COVID chronic fatigue syndrome.
2.Evidence for the use of LDN in chronic pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, and post-COVID chronic fatigue syndrome is limited to small studies; however, the promising results of pain and other symptom reduction warrant additional research.
3. LDN is generally well-tolerated and is a potentially safe option for patients.
